Antibody's full description

Mouse Anti- Acetylated Lysine Monoclonal IgG1 Antibody, Clone: 7F8: Unconjugated

Antibody's dilutions

WB (1:1000), IHC (1:100); optimal dilutions for assays should be determined by the user.

Antibody's specificity

Detects proteins containing acetylated lysine residues in ELISA and western blots. Does not detect non-acetylated lysine residues.

Description

This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.Antibody for research use.

Antibody certificate of analysis

1 µg of SMC-153 was sufficient to detect acetylated chicken erythrocyte histones (sodium butyrate-treated) using 20 µg total protein, on western blot by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.

About

Monoclonals of this antigen are available in different clones. Each murine monoclonal anibody has his own affinity specific for the clone. Mouse monoclonal antibodies are purified protein A or G and can be conjugated to FITC for flow cytometry or FACS and can be of different isotypes.

Test

Mouse or mice from the Mus musculus species are used for production of mouse monoclonal antibodies or mabs and as research model for humans in your lab. Mouse are mature after 40 days for females and 55 days for males. The female mice are pregnant only 20 days and can give birth to 10 litters of 6-8 mice a year. Transgenic, knock-out, congenic and inbread strains are known for C57BL/6, A/J, BALB/c, SCID while the CD-1 is outbred as strain.

Scientific context

Post-translational modifications of proteins play critical roles in the regulation and function of many known biological processes. Proteins can be post-translationally modified in many different ways, and a common post-transcriptional modification of Lysine involves acetylation (1). The conserved amino-terminal domains of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3 and H4) contain lysines that are acetylated by histone acetyltransferases (HATs) and deacetylated by histone deacetylases (HDACs) (2). Protein posttranslational reversible lysine Nε development (5).
